How Proxying Works

Proxying lets you type normally in an enabled RP channel while Kakashi reposts the eligible message with your selected character's name and avatar through a Discord webhook. You remain the real author; webhook presentation is not anonymity.

Which character is used?

Outside a scene, the most specific selection wins:

Thread → Channel → Category → Server

Inside a scene, the character snapshot stored for that participant takes priority so the identity stays consistent for the scene.

Messages beginning with the default OOC prefix // stay as normal Discord messages. Example: // back in five minutes.

Proxying can preserve supported replies and attachments and applies the server's mention policy. User mentions and role mentions can be controlled separately; role mentions use the configured allow-list.

Supported proxied messages expose context actions such as Edit RP Message, Delete RP Message and, for authorized moderation, Who Sent This?.

If proxying works in one channel but not another, check three things first: whether that scope is enabled/excluded, which character selection is taking precedence, and Kakashi's permissions in that exact channel. A scene also requires you to be one of its participants.

Do not delete the managed webhook manually. If it disappears, Kakashi may need to create or resolve a replacement before proxying works there again.
