Configuration Permissions
Kakashi checks the configuring user's Discord permissions, but the final feature also depends on Kakashi's own permissions when it later performs the action.
| Configuration area | User permission |
|---|---|
| Language | Manage Server |
| Autoroles | Manage Roles |
| Welcome / Leave / Ban messages | Manage Server |
| Confessions | Manage Channels |
| Reddit feeds | Manage Webhooks + Manage Channels |
Bot-side permissions
The specific bot permission depends on the configured feature:
- autoroles require Kakashi to manage the target role;
- welcome/leave messages require send access in the destination channel;
- embed/media presentation needs the relevant channel permissions;
- Reddit feeds require webhook management in the destination channel.
Role hierarchy
For autoroles, Kakashi's highest role must be above the role it needs to assign. A role can be visible and selectable in Discord while still being impossible for the bot to manage.
warning
Manage Roles does not bypass hierarchy. Move Kakashi's role above the target autorole instead of repeatedly re-saving the same configuration.
Channel overwrites
Permissions can change from channel to channel. Always test the exact destination rather than assuming a server-wide role setting applies everywhere.
