How it connects​

Exploration uses the village/zone you are currently in. That means zone information is part of the decision: enemy pools and drops differ by area, and your current combat readiness affects how safely you can handle an encounter. Exploration can also contribute to jutsu discovery and material acquisition.

Open /village zones before committing to repeated exploration. Pick a zone because its enemies/resources match your current objective, not just because it is the newest area you unlocked.
