How Combat Works
Kakashi RPG does not reduce combat to one “power” number. Your effective stats come from your health and chakra, the five RPG skills, build bonuses, jutsu mastery, chakra nature, temporary effects and the opponent you are fighting.
Basic attacks and jutsus
A basic attack starts from its damage roll plus your physical attack bonuses, then applies offensive modifiers, critical hits and the target’s reductions. A jutsu also uses the technique’s own power and can add Ninjutsu, mastery, nature bonuses, build effects and the elemental matchup before defense is applied.
Offensive bonuses use diminishing returns rather than growing without limit. This is why stacking one stat forever does not translate into the same percentage of extra final damage.
Critical hits
The standard critical damage multiplier is 1.5×. Your critical chance is influenced mainly by Precision and any applicable build/nature effects; special enemies or activities can have their own combat profile.
Elemental advantage
For the five basic natures, a favorable matchup uses 1.15×, an unfavorable matchup uses 0.90×, and a neutral matchup uses 1.00×. Nature is only one part of the calculation—a weaker build does not automatically win because it has the favorable element.
Defense, reductions and shields
Defense, Resistance, build reduction and temporary defensive effects are combined rather than simply added forever. Their combined damage reduction is capped at 75%. Shields absorb damage separately and can be granted by techniques or prepared effects.
Some attacks can ignore part of defense or interact with shields, so the battle log is the best way to understand why a hit was larger or smaller than expected.
Precision and critical chance
Before build/context effects, the base critical chance starts at 5%. Precision raises that contribution with diminishing returns, with the core Precision-derived chance capped at 35%. Special encounter profiles can still use their own values.
Chakra matters too
Jutsu costs can be reduced by mastery, chakra control and build bonuses, within their own limits. A build that hits hard but cannot afford its techniques for several turns is not automatically stronger than one with lower peak damage and better resource control.
