Proxy Settings

Proxy settings control how normal Discord messages become NarutoVerse character messages.

Proxy enabled​

proxy.enabled controls whether the proxy layer is active. NarutoVerse can remain configured while proxying itself is disabled.

OOC prefix​

The default OOC prefix is:

The server can configure a prefix between 1 and 8 characters. A message beginning with the OOC prefix stays as the user instead of being proxied as the selected character.

tip

Choose a short prefix that users can type naturally and that is unlikely to appear at the beginning of normal IC dialogue.

Message mapping retention​

NarutoVerse retains the author/proxy mapping used by supported edit/delete/moderation actions for a configurable number of days. The accepted values are:

  • 30 days;
  • 90 days;
  • 180 days;
  • 365 days.

The default is 90 days.

Longer retention gives moderation tools a larger historical window but should match the server's privacy/moderation policy.

Mentions​

User mentions can be allowed/disabled through the proxy setting. Role mentions are handled through an explicit allow-list rather than allowing arbitrary role pings from proxied RP messages.

This protects a roleplay webhook from becoming a way to bypass ordinary server mention expectations.

Scope comes first​

Proxy settings do not make every channel an RP channel. The message must still be inside a configured NarutoVerse scope and not inside an excluded scope.
